Spanning three storeys above ground, the building’s precise form deliberately takes a back seat, thereby creating space for the light, the lake and the landscape.
An essential element of this architectural concept is the window. Generous glass surfaces facing the lake open up the villa to the expanse of the water, causing the boundaries between inside and outside to almost disappear. The window is not perceived as a separate component, but as an integral part of the architecture: understated in appearance, yet striking in effect.
The distinctive atmosphere of the villa is created by the precise interplay of carefully selected materials. Travertine lends the building a sense of permanence and natural depth. Its characteristic texture brings the restrained surfaces to life without disturbing their calm expression. The walnut wood ceilings add warmth to the interiors and create a deliberate contrast to the mineral clarity of the natural stone.
In between: glass. As the most transparent of materials, it connects stone, wood and landscape. The large-scale sliding windows by swissFineLine allow daylight to penetrate deep into the interiors and
open up almost uninterrupted sightlines to the surrounding landscape. At the same time, the changing light continually transforms the interior – from clear and precise to warm and atmospheric.
